Each California mission was about a day's travel between each other by foot or horse. There are two missions between San Diego and Los Angeles (San Luis Rey and San Juan Capistrano). That in mind, the travel time took approximately two to three days depending on the speed of the coach and how many stops it makes..

Ironically, that trip can take longer today due to the traffic on the I-5 through San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties. ;-)
