Well you are what people call thin skinned and no that is not necessarily bad but you may need to toughen up a bit. Regardless, of what people say it is not wrong for men to cry. Men are no less human than anyone else. I think that maybe you are crying cause you feel that you have let your dad down or that he looks at you as less because you may have messed up or something. I doubt that is the case, you have to remember that life is going to be full of harsh, scorn full people. Some or going to be harsh just because they can just to cause a little pain and some are going to be harsh because they love and are preparing you for things that will come in life. Know the difference that will help you through a lot. Also do not let people take your kindness for weakness people believe that if a person is kind that means that he or she does not have a backbone not true. I don't believe that and neither should you, you should never stop being true to yourself and your feelings. Just know that you control your feelings not the other way around. It is not an easy task to master but you will soon enough.

There is nothing wrong with being emotional, the key is how those emotions drive you to act. A tender heart and the ability to sacrifice are comendable as well, it will just appear to those that love you that you are allowing yourself to be taken advantage of. With anything in life the important thing is how you feel about yourself. As long as you know what you're doing is right and you Know what is in your heart then don't let anyone make you doubt yourself. You're never wrong to feel however you feel whether it be anger, joy, or sadness. Emotions are our minds way of letting us know that we are in a situation that we need to give thought to before we act. I'm 25 now and I grew up with the same questions in my mind that you're asking here. The two most important things I can advise you to do are a). Don't hold those emotions in, find a release whether it be public or private, and b). Be honest with yourself and those around you about how you're feeling, but don't be surprised if telling someone how you feel doesn't change how they act or treat you. When all is said and done the only person responsible for your thoughts, feelings, and actions is you. Hope this helped..... Good Luck.

There is a fine line to emotional control, and if your mom feels you need to toughen up I think you've crossed over the sensitive line and need to not let yourself be easily intimidated...I believe that's what your mom means...she doesn't want you to be the type that if a bird falls out of a tree you cry about it nor does she want you to be the type that will just stomp on it, she wants you to be able to recognize a sensitive issue and put the bird back in the tree....this is part of being a man, its a form of discipline, it is something that can be learned if you do not naturally have this instinctively..being responsible and dealing with what it takes to make the tough decisions will eventually get you to the point you need to be...nothing wrong with shedding a tear, but don't let it present yourself as a target that can be easily intimidated.

If what your dad says to you really hurts you, you should tell him! There is nothing wrong with crying every now and then, especially if you are really hurt. You just havent got the heart that others have.. which is most of the time.. very hard core. It sounds to me like you have a good heart. And that is what a girl that you want is looking for. Pray about it if you really think that you need to strengthen yourself. God's strength is enough.

I'm exactly the same. My parents tell me I have to toughen up. But I have GAD and anxiety so overthinking about the future and if I won't be tough enough makes me worried sick, so I cry. It's really hard to explain but I think as u grow and experience more u toughen up anyways. And yeah u might cry, but there is nothing wrong with that

I think its ok for a guy to cry. And its also ok to be sensitive. Your actually pretty strong to come clean about your problem. I'm sure other guys "cry" but unlike you they dont tell anyone or try to get help. It's ok to "cry" sometimes. It's a way of cooling your self down thinking........sorta...............hmm.....well if you would like to talk more just contact me a ashtonreed729@yahoo.com.
