i have trouble beleifing americans who make less then 500,000 could be republicans at all. what benefit do you get out of it you will never end ;abortion , homosexuality ,promiscuity, drugs ,or pornography and bad rap songs.THOSE things are never going to end .why do you continue to make america suffer under profteers who only take your ability to move out of those conditions and raise a family in a respectable neighbor hood and scholl away from things you do not like and accept they have been around for 5000 years and are not going away.
INSTEAD of demanding better pay you fight about trival moral issues that do not affect you if the meer knowledge of homosexuality offends you should they not be killed in fact all people that have a different view .the biblee had a lot of stonings and things never changed. please consider a tax increase on the wealthiest 10% and a capital gains tax increase proportional to a graduated income tax up to 80%

I am a republican, and make less than 80K a year. I used to make more, but 9-11 happened and my dream job ceased to exist. However, I became a republican because the platform of the party more closely reflected my personal, professional and political beliefs. I NEVER vote a straight party ticket, and always try to vote for the candidate I feel is the most qualified. In order to determine the qualifications of each candidate, I visit their websites, listen to political ads, watch debates and read profiles in the local paper. I try to be as informed about each candidate and their political stance on each issue before I determine whom to vote for. I have voted for democrats several times including in two presidential elections (Clinton).
I regularly write my senators and representatives, both at state and federal level, in order to express my approval or disgust over their actions. I then vote my approval or dissatisfaction during the election. Most recently, I helped vote a republican mayor out of office because he was out of touch with the local citizens and was no longer a benefit to the community.
I do not understand why you feel it is appropriate to take a fatalistic view of the world and decide certain "things are never going to end." I believe things can change if people want them to, particularly if a large group of people make a collective statement.
I do not know anyone personally who advocates the eradication of wholesale segments of the population because of religious or sexual preference.
I support proportional tax rates, to a point. No one should have to pay 80% on capital gains. There would be no incentive to earn money. Why would anyone invest $1 only to receive an additional 20 cents, regardless of how hard it was to make the 2nd dollar? You would bring the capitalist system to a halt.
Republicans normally support sound fiscal policy and the elimination or reduction of taxes. This is not always the case, as evidenced by some of the current administration's actions. You can't decry social inequity and then ask those who are the most industrious members of society to accept a system that forces them to work harder for less money because you want to give their hard earned money to people who aren't willing to work as hard.

Trying to legislate morality is a losing proposition. It's a lot of effort for minuscule results. We need to encourage good behaviors early in life. Last year, I saw a great tv series called "Brat Camp". If every kid were compelled to attend one of these brat camps, far fewer people would adopt a life of crime and irresponsible behavior.
I thought this quote came from Thomas Jefferson, but I need to check my sources: "If god can not legislate morality, then no government should try".
You made a very funny statement: "trivial moral issues that do not affect you ". A lot of those behaviors you mention lead to the spread of ST D's, AIDS, herpes, etc. Still think that behavior does not affect you?
Why is abortion still an issue? Don't women have the option of taking those "morning after" pills? Are they too lazy to do it?
Regarding drug use, I have no comment other than to say, watch this movie: "Requiem For A Dream".
So, let's stop trying to legislate morality and concentrate on improving the character of people. The only problem I see is the sheer numbers. How can we possibly create a Brat Camp experience for every teenager?

This may be the most worthless thing I have ever read.
There are plenty of poor Republicans.
They are even have atheists, agnostics, gays, and drug dealers.
Please do not let the Democrats fool you into believing that they are the "working man" or the "tolerant" party.
That is simply not true.
Your boy Clinton was responsible for the largest tax increase the poor of this country have ever seen.
Now go do your homework and stop making the rich responsible for your poor life decisions or financial troubles.

What in the heck is your problem anyway? Moral issues are indeed important to me and I am a republican that makes about 30,000 a yr along with a lot of people I know. We all are sick and tired of people like yourself that think you have a better idea when you prove over and over again that you do not. Also, how about keeping the questions a little shorter!

Yes 60,000 a year. And when I cross the wealthy line from hard work & effort - I don't want idiots like you to steal my money and give to the lazy. I tithe at church & donate to different charities and really don't need my money to compensate for failing gov't programs.

Moron. It isn't Republicans you should be mad at. It is your English teacher, your Spelling teacher, and your Grammar coach.
Won't have to worry about you competing in the world market, will I?

Why should we punish our most productive citizens who, together, pay more tax than all of our other citizens?
