I dunno, but red barns are cool. I have a storage shed in the backyard that looks like a barn. It used to be white, but we painted it red and it loos so much better now.

the fact is that tobacco companies agreed to paint the entire barn if they could use the side of the barn for advertising... most of which was RED MAN tobacco. Paint was one thing that was a luxtury in days past. that was one reason the other is that RED paint was the cheapest paint there was... it was a simple pigment made from iron oxide RUST. Odd but true

For the size of a barn and to protect it from the weather paint was needed. Red paint was the cheapest and so there you go, red barns.

for heat purposes only. years ago red paint was used because it helped retain heat inside the barn which was not heated except by sun light
