You find out about it or not.

If you find out about it you feel hurt, then sad, the angry, then curious, then you rationalize it, maybe set up some guidelines on how not to be hurt again, and then bam, it happens again.

The thing about betrayal is it seldom happens the same way twice.

If you were betrayed, nothing says it was intentional. You betray yourself all the times, say things you shouldn't and do things you ought not, and yet you didn't intend to betray yourself. Same goes for other people.

Regrets happen. The sad thing is that you can't make them go away by saying you're sorry. You will always have those regrets. They may serve you not to make te same mistake twice. Instead you will make an entirely new mistake.

On the flip side, while you are rationalizing "Why me?", "Why was I betrayed?", you may learned that you weren't betrayed at all. Betrayal is an intentional act, a malicious act, a extremely careless act. It should not be a case of simple stupidity or forgetfulness. Dumb things are done. You shouldn't be penalized for being dumb. It is its own penalty.

Put yourself in the other person's foot steps and ask what should be your punishment? If you can't punish yourself, you shouldn't punish them.

As for a second try, Why not? If the betrayal is out in the open then include it in the approach you take the second time around. Have a plan B. It is always good to have a plan B. The thing about second tries is you may not have a choice in the matter. They may be a relative or a coworker. You may be forced to give them a second try. Expect that and be prepared for the worst.

This is one was you will build character in your life. If you like videos, watch "The Big Kahuna" with Danny Devito and his character will eventually explain this to you.

Relationships thrive on caring, trust, and honesty. Use one of the three to compensate for the other two if you see your relationship turning from a positive one to something else.

That is not in the movie but it is a good idea none the less.

And "Yes", I turn the other cheek quite often.

Yes, especially if the friend asks for forgiveness.

Hell no! People don't change, ever. And going back is giving your permission to let them do it again. It also compares to "settling".
Never settle for 2nd best. You deserve the very best there is.

You forgive your friend, try to understand their motives to do so, learn from the experience, and forget about it.
