I am now in an Environmental Position for my small community of 2,000 people. I really want to make things, and own a store, making jewelry, Silk screening clothing, and accessories. How do I do this? Should it be a part time thing... ?

I do enjoy the Environmental Aspect of my life, I like helping my community. Any suggestions on where I can take this? I do want to travel (preferably with expenses paid) I went to school for water sampling, erosion control, site remediation/reclaimation, constructed wetlands, etc. Any suggestions?

Why don't you incorporate you environment job with you dream creative job.
Make things out of environmentally safe materials. I am sure they will be beautiful. You can even donate some of your profits to a cause of yours.

You could start part time making the things you enjoy making, set up a website and sell them online. As you work this aspect of your new venture and build it to a stable point, you could then explore the options of opening a store. By approaching it this way, you will not be out the greater expence of the physical building and related expences.
This site may have some other ideas for you to consider as well and there is a great article to read.

I am in Alberta, Canada and there is an oil boom going on here. That would take care of your travel and you could capitalize on the boom here, which would earn you enough income to start your small business in your community. People who can do reclaimation are in demand here! The entire oil industry is going very environmental and there are some good positions for environmentalists.
