Yup. Saturday Night Live did a great skit about all the girls with the back tattoos turning 60 and what they will look like then.
Go look at your grandmother's skin, girls. It didn't start out down there. It was up north at one time.
As for pregnancy, it is not a huge deal but it can be, depending on the weight gain and the size of the tattoo.

Oh yes he is absolutely right. Two stupid places to get tattoos if you are female is your lower back and your stomach. If you plan on having children do not do it. You will regret it more than you can imagine. That pretty little design will be stretched and pulled apart by stretch marks. If you are lucky enough not to get stretch marks, you still widen back there when you are pregnant. Not recommended you tattoo that area. Stretch marks are not avoidable by the way. They are hereditary. If your mother has them, you are likely to have them. There is no cream out there that will prevent them either. Its all a bogus gimmick.

It is not true that the tattoo on your back will stretch when you have a baby. However, when you get older and your skin gets more elastic, it may start to look a little strange. And when you get old enough to have wrinkles and your skin starts visibley sagging, your tattoo will shrink a little, loose detail, and look much darker.

Yes...your skin all over goes through changes with pregnancy. Some women end up with stretch marks on their backs and down their legs. So, your tattoo might stretch and change, depending on how your body handles the pregnancy.

depends on the person. My sister has two kids and she got HUGE with the second one. I am on my 3rd and none of my tats ever stretched. And I have one right on the small of my back and 8 others all over my body. They're all still pretty...so it depends on you, how much weight you gain, etc, etc. So no one answer is going to be right. EXCEPT MINE!! LOL

I have known girls that get them on their stomach and when they are pregnant they have stretched...but when they have the baby they go back to normal. On your back the only way it will stretch if if you relly gain alot of weight.. And unfortunately that can happen to any one for any reason. I would get it any way. Just don't get one on your chest by your breast, because gravity will effect that tattoo, and really stretch it.

If it is in a spot that gets bigger - say, you gain some and your hips get wider, for instance - it will stretch. But not directly because you're preggers.
