You say, thanks Dad, I understand.
Games are very $$$ and your dad has bills to pay- like the roof over your head and the food that goes into your mouth.
If you want the game sooner, then look for a part time summer job!

You say, OK, thanks Dad. Kids don't have any idea about the high price of the games these days, that could cost the lights, gas, or water to be turned off from not being paid at home. At least he didn't say flat out NO.

you can say OK and thank-you or you can really offer to do extra work around the house to pay it off but you really have too do the work see maybe your dad cant afford it because he has a lot of bills if you work it off you will be helping not only money way but helping bye easy the load from the extra work he has to do at home .remember he works at home and work to feed clothes and keep a roof over your head.

I'm assuming this is for your birthday present? Just accept it! At least you're getting something you want for your birthday...and maybe you need to understand that sometimes a lot of us have to wait until payday to get the extras...

i'm wondering if maybe the ppl that answered are taking your question wrong...
i think they all mean, what do you say to try and get it sooner?

i think that maybe you mean, wow that's embarassing, i didn't know my family was that short on cash...how do i tell him i don't really need it?

if you didn't mean it this way, you should have. managing a family is tough and not only can parents not afford everything a kid wants, a kid shouldn't get everything they want, a kid needs to learn that there are limits and boundaries

either cry and have a temper tantrum like a little baby,

or give your dad a break.

maybe he is having hard time finacially - maybe he is having trouble keeping bread onthe table for you and your family. or knows what he is through

have patience
