With gasoline so expensive, I'm considering getting a moped, for around town trips. Are they easy to drive? Safe?

For getting around town a moped would be a great and economical investment. They are good on gas, comfortable, light weight and very easy to handle. I've never rode anything before I got my Eton Beamer II. Now I'm totally hooked.

Hey,
I have a Vespa ET2/2005..
The best thing I have ever had..I would ride min.40Km or 28 Miles/day.., spent 5 bucks on gas/week, with the speed of 80 KM/Hour..I highly recommend it., you can also carry one axtra person...They are easier to operate than you may think and also oyu will have to get used to cars with that, but you have certain power also while driving....I do not know where you live but if it does not have a big culture than cars may hunk at you occassionaly..even in rain it is OK, I tried it, but will have to be a bit more alert..that it is..Great investment ...insurance is a bit pricy the first year than it drop to almost half of the previous one if you did not have any accident...Vepsa ET2 is awesome!!!!!!!!!

Good luck

Mopeds are great... Although they don't go over the speed of 35, they take great gas and can get you from point a to point b quicker than a bike and cheaper than a car.

Um, try doing a google search for Moped Safety. I am thinking about buying one for myself for pretty much the same reason :)

They're good mainly for driving in the city were you dont exactly go very fast and they're easy to park so if you're driving in the city theyre good. You have to be sure it has turn signals brake lights and headlights and a lisense plate though lol

It's the same as riding a bicycle down a hill. Going down a hill you don't pedal a bicycle. A moped you don't have to pedal at all and can go up hills.

I had one for 10 years... even my kids used it. I never had any trouble with it and, except for routine stuff, it was very inexpensive to operate. I think I got about 60 MPG out of the darn thing.

Just remember that they don't accelerate very fast. So you have to learn to anticipate traffic and stay out of harm's way.

Mopeds heave two wheels, one seat, motor, and a gas
tank.
