Your Local Council basically is a business.
The council charge you for there services.
If those services are not there, you are still expected to pay.

Or are YOU?
Scenario One... You buy your P.C. From Curry's...
But the thing is constantly on the blink, and you have had this model and a similar one back into the shop a good few times.

You suspect that Curry's simply have not sorted the problem out and are fobbing you off.

So You demand a full refund as a level of service;
a. has not been upheld...
b. there is an obvious problem with the product!

You get your refund, okay it might not be straight away, but you get it!

Scenario Two. The council charge you £1250 per year tax.
X amount goes to POLICE/EMERGENCY SERVICES.
X amount goes to keeping the streets clean, and your bins emptied.
Now today an old lady (60's) was sent to prison for none payment, after she refused to pay her bill.

reason; Prostitutes in her street nightly, no litter picked up ever!

Aswith every business, it has to conform to it's fundemental principles... 'Yes Cockney you are correct... in principle we are not consumers... although the Council is a business... the council makes money on it's product(s) the town/city and it's individual businesses within that area!

Yes the Council makes business decisions, and MAKES MONEY on it's product.

But the minute that product is defective, then there has to be a course of action that can be taken to rectify or compensate.

There are things that can be done... but it usually takes a class action.

You see the government and the council do not have to worry about this...

BECAUSE simply the little man will not make a fuss... and your GOVERNMENT knows this... oh it knows!

You see in other countries there have been a lot of things the little man has done.

Germany!
many african counties in particular, South Africa.
yugoslavia.
the former U.S.S.R.
even America many moons ago!

It's called PEOPLE POWER!

Taxes dont work like that..a government/public service is not a choice which benefits just yourself, it benefits the community. You cant say ' i dont want to pay such and such' because someday, you will us that service, and whing when you have to pay! Its a duty we all have to pay , wether we like it or not
