"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel." Anybody with any advice? I have WindowsXP. It's usually a pps attachment

To see the pps files you don't even need the full expensive version of office or even the trial (the trial will work only for a while). All you need is the FREE powerpoint viewer from microsoft. You can't edit the files with that, but you can see them.
It worked fine for me.

It just means that the file you received is not associated with a program, or that you don't have in your computer the program necessary to open the file. For instance, if you have a Home Windows, you don't have a power-point program, and all power-point will not be recognized and opened. PPS is a power-point file.
Only the professional version of Windows has the program.

thats a power point attachment you can download office trial from microsoft to open the file here is the link for that download

Try saving it first then try again. Mine does that too. I save it and it usually works after that.
