the best and easiest way to do it is you can buy these nail templates or nail stickers. the stickers you can peel off and apply but the templets require a little more effort you have to paint them on and can accersorize with jems etc.. everything is usually included in the nail kit or you can buy each item separately.

Use a tooth pick. Dip the tooth pick in the nail polish and it will make little dots on your nails. You could do a flower, lady bug, or just polka dots. A toothpick could also be used to make more intricate designs by dragging it over the surface of the nail.

They have nail designs that stick on your nails. You can also get them airbrushed at a nail salon.

that's my area:D
the simplest way is to polish a nail with one color and then(as fast as you can, cuz the nail must be still wet)put some drops of other colour on it and mix it with a needle(you can make crazy designs like this)
second way is to draw the design with thin brush(personally I hate this way)
third way is to wait while nails dry and then take just a simple black(or whatever)gel pen and draw whatever you want.then wait for it to dry and put some transparent polish on
fourth way is to buy stickers.
and fifth is to go to manicurist and she'll do something professional.
Anyways-you can look for designs in the internet:

what u do is go out to a craft store or any where with really small stencils and buy ones that will fit on your nail and then use your nail polish and paint it on!

They actually sell these stick on ones. Stick them on over nail color, then put a topcoat on.
