Um... hi... I'm 13 and my doctor says I won't be getting my period anytime soon. Is that weird? What age did you get your first period?

It is totally normal. Recently women have been starting their menstural cycle earlier in life, but it is normal to start it up to about 15.

Yes,that's completely normal. Some girls get their first period at 8 or 9 - some don't get it until they're 15 or 16. The average age is 12 or 13. The best way to figure out that you may start menstruating is to look for other signs of development, and ask your mother or older sister when they started.Everyone has her own "biological clock" and yours is different from everyone else's. So even if you feel like you'll never get your period, don't worry -- you will! Look for signs. First, your breasts may start to get bigger, hair may start to grow in the pubic area (between your legs), and a little later, in your armpits. During this time, (according to Dr. Kathleen Stone, who specialized in helping girls understand puberty and reproduction), you may notice a whitish discharge form your vagina. This is normal (and it's not urine, which comes from your urethra). A few months after that, you'll probably get your first period. When it actually begins, you might feel dampness on your underwear -- which is probably a few drops of blood.

So don't worry! You're most likely completely normal. If you have any other questions/concerns,feel free to email me(toxiics@yahoo.com).

I was 11. My period started on Good Friday. First of all, it was the farthest from good; and most horrible a Friday - they are supposed to be the best day of the week! Unless you are nearing your 20th birthday without a single period, I wouldn't worry until it happens. You will worry for several decades of woe. Trust me, and trust every woman out there who has had at least one period. It's no where close to the "Hollywood" picture. It's actually my absolute worst days of the month, if that tells you anything.

yes, it's very normal. Most girl's generally start between the ages 0f 12 and 13 so you're right on time. I started when I was 12. But everybody's different, so hang in there.

NO, its perfectly normal everyone is different and our bodies operate differently. Besides how does your doc KNOW when you'll get your period? Does is happen in your family that way? The later you get your period the more viable eggs you'll have when you're ready to have a family (theoretically). dont stress about it, this is not a health problem in anyway, shape/form

I started at the age of 11, but I knew a girl that didn't start until she was 22. Now that's weird lol. No worries babe.

"Normal" is different for everybody. As long as you get it by 16, I wouldn't worry. You may be a little later than some of your friends, but trust me, periods are not something anyone wants to have MORE of! Starting later means less hassle and discomfort for now.

I was eleven years old and I don't think the doctors can really tell you WHEN your going to specifically get your period. It just kind of surprises you. Like you could get it tomorrow. I mean no one really knows when. Its kind of up to your body. Don't worry about it though. It will come, and keep coming for the rest of your life almost when it does come.

It's not weird. You're really lucky cuz I got mine at 11 and that is not fun. It's pretty normal so I wouldn't worry too much. If you have any more questions you should probably talk to your doctor too.
