Yes, sir. I believe that you are wrong.
While we don't know what it was like to be a slave, we can read accounts of slavery from people like Frederick Douglas. The beatings were inhumane and treacherous. The living conditions were deplorable, but you know what I am glad that my great-grandmother's mother allowed her to live.
Why did she do it? Why didn't she just drown my great-grandmother to prevent her from enduring a life of slavery. I will tell you in one word. Hope. She believed that there was hope for another generation to have opportunities like we have today as African Americans. Even though my great-grandmother's mother didn't live long enough to see it, she still dreamt it and that is why I am here.
It is our responsibility as the descendants of these kings and queens to live a life worthy of their sacrifice. Everyday we must honor their dream by leading lives that foster hope for those who are coming along behind us. We have to stay off drugs and educate ourselves. Slavery was a crime, but we have to fight to overcome the racism and the stigma that still remain. We too must hold out hope.
You should be glad that your great-grandmother's mother let her live. Don't let the man keep you down. Power to the people...

Every life is special for some purpose. Look at all the slaves that became free and made an impact on history. Nobody should have that choice made for them especially when they're kids and can't make a decision as to whether or not they'd want to be a slave or dead. Have faith that everything happens in our lives for a reason and everyone has a purpose in life.

Absolutely not, this is a common reaction of human beings through out history. I read a book about native mexicans indian women who aborted their children because they were raped by the Spanish. Slave women no matter what time in history did what they felt was best for themselves and their born or unborn children. No one can say they were wrong. And as far as you identifying with their pain and being thoughtful enough to feel that if you were in the same situation you would act in the same manner, is a simple act of compassion for the people who came before you and suffered in a manner that most people today can not comprehend.

Having never been in that situation, I am not qualified to answer. The life I have has given me the belief that where there is life, there is hope for a better future. I am aware, though, that there are people who have lived with such hopelessness and despair that killing a newborn child seems to be the best thing for the child, much like euthanizing a crippled puppy.

Well, I believe you would be wrong! Reason one is if you had sex knowing your child would/could grow up in that life style then it is yours and your partners fault not this Innocent child so,why should he/she be put to death for your mistake? AND YOU being the one to take its life!??!!? You aren't 100% positive they would have grown up that way..................! If I would have aborted my 3rd child just because of the fear the doctors had about how she would have came into this world like I wouldn't have a beautiful~ great daughter I have today, she is 18 yrs old and she's my angel ~ baby~ girl. They told me she would / could be born with no spine, no hair, no this no that but, I didn't listen because, I made her and it was my responsibility to take care of her NO MATTER WHAT!

yes you're wrong. we are all slaves now so i hope you don't have any kids. a slave is defined as: one who produces while another disposes of that product, even the black slaves of the southern plantations were fed and housed and generally cared for, an unhealthy slave was no good. Nowadays, what percentage of your produce is taken, try to add it up: incomes taxes, state taxes, sales taxes, manufacturing taxes, luxury taxes, death taxes, inflation, duties, subsidies, quotas. its your money being forcefully taken, to be disposed of by someone else. it was once said " better to die on your feet than live on your knees" teacher your child about freedom and then let them fight and perhaps die for it. better than being a slave, don't kill them before they've had a chance to prevail.

No your not wrong. I would have done the same if I was in a grave situation where I had proof that the slave master would harm my child.

how about not having sex and making a baby that you plan on murdering in the first place. how about not taking out your selfishness out on that child. what happens if you murder your child and slavery ended tomorrow? how do you know that child wont be the one to grow up and abolish slavery(not sure what century you are talking about here?) ulitmately you are killing the child so you don't have to go through the trauma of what might happen, and unless you can see in to the future you don't know, and can only guess, at what it might hold in store for that child.

How about not having babies at all ?
Why would you carry that baby and cherish the thought of having it when later you have to kill it?
If our grandparents would kill our parents because the economy was bad at that time we wouldn't be born.
People have kids and they take chances all the time, that's called life.
