I'm looking to modify the stereo I got for christmas a few years ago. I doesn't have any auxillary inputs, which means I can't plug my mp3 player into it. It does, on the other hand, have 2 tape decks, neither of which I use. I would love to be able to modify the stereo to have auxillary inputs, and I had the brilliant idea to take out the tape decks, or at least use their input onto the audio board. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this. If someone could point me to a good reference on this kind of stuff (or just tell me how to do it), I would be most appreciative! Thanks!

Without knowing quite a bit more about your "stereo" this can only be a guess.

If the two tape decks are integrated into the same box then I would expect that the input signal to either of them would be heard through the system's amplifier while you are recording.

If that is the case then you can plug the output of your MP3 player into one of the tape inputs.

You will have to overcome the record interlock to fool the machine into thinking that there is a recordable cassette loaded. But I expect you know about that.
