I can personally testify of how great the Chevy cavaliers are. We have owned 3 in the past and still own a '98. Low maintenance and high mileage. FANTASTIC CAR if you prefer the car being in YOUR garage everyday rather then the mechanic's garage for service. Depending on where you are purchasing this car, if it is from a dealer, most dealer's will let you take the car to an outside mechanic to check it, if they are honest dealers. If it is a private sale, bring a good mechanic with you to check the car out. Also, inquire if it had been in any accidents. If so, see paperwork to see the extent. Someone who does bodywork will know if that car was in an accident. Don't believe everything someone will tell you. 125,000 on that car, if it has been serviced regularly, is nothing for miles. Our '97 had just under 300,000 on it when we sold it to a gentleman I work with, who is still driving it, but I had personally serviced that car routinely; oil changes, new plugs,, etc. My motto is: " If you take care of your car, the car will take care of you!"

A Cavalier w/over a 100,000 miles is never good why do u think they are selling it there is something wrong with it. If u r buying it yourself though & really need a car to make more money then sure just remember in about a year u will have to start putting money into that now 8yr.old vehicle.

yes the cavalier is a great first car. My first car was a 87 cav that my sister abused very bad before it was mine it finally died with about 200,000mi on it. The price for a car with that many miles on it is absurd you would be better off getting a 1995-1997 they are cheaper because of age but some have less mi than that one for almost the same price

may not be a good idea for the simple fact that it has so many miles on it. a couple of friends of mine had cavaliers and were always complaining about them breaking down as well. On the plus side you save on gas because they are great with gas mileage, aside from that they arent very good cars....grand prix are pretty good cars and are also good with the gas mileage. but hey only you know whats best for you. you might try taking someone with you to get a car that knows what they are doing like your dad, that way you don't buy something that will breakdown on you... remember with used cars that you buy from a previous owner there are no guarantees

A chevy Cavalier is a good first car. The car you mentioned is overpriced for the age and the miles--I would keep looking.

Make sure you carfax whatever car you are buying. It's a decent first car, but way too many miles. I would pay a little more and get a car with lower miles since you want to be driving your car rather than having it serviced all the time.

125,000 miles and it is for 2500? You might want to get them to go down on the price. It is worth 1800-2100 tops.
It is a good car...but the miles are high...and it is considered to be almost dead.

The mileage is a little high, but the car is a good one, not a bad deal either. The best time to buy a used car is when it is 2-3 yrs old.

They are good cars for first cars but 2500 is too much for that year and miles
