is no eninge oil but the car has been running smoothly and still starts. can anyone help?

The radiator needs to be flushed and cleaned. You may even need a new or refurbished radiator. But the rust is just from the water sitting in the metal radiator.

This engine uses special anti freeze that contains anti corrosion inhibitor Flush and refill with a good brand of anti freeze.These engines are very prone to head gasget problems get it checked for this

You need to flush the radiator and if I can do it, anybody can. Then you add coolant. I fill my radiator with nothing BUT coolant a.k.a. anti-freeze. If I didn't my ride would blow to pieces in the Nevada heat.

It probably is rust from your radiator. flush the coolant system and refill.
