Hi, I've just moved into a new flat in Paris on the 6th floor facing east and i wanna grow some cherry tomatoes by hanging them over the edge of my window using a pot attached to the railings. I was then going to just let them hang lazily over the edge. Is this possible as i've never noticed anyone growing tomatoes over their balcony before? Thanks for your help!

Of course you can as long as they are planted in soil and have adequate sun and water.

Yes but be careful. If it gets windy whole trusses of fruit could fall off, also cherry tomatoes ripen at different rates so you might have trouble picking the ones that are ripe without damaging the green ones.
You could try a compact bush tomato instead, they're also known as 'patio' tomatoes.

Wow!! Lucky you living in Paris!!! And finding a flat there is not easy.

After the challenge of that, growing tomotoes will be easy!!!!

You've never noticed tomotoes growing on a balcony because it is quite rare. I know of people who successfully grow them on a window box, but I guess it takes some original thinking and creativity - and you would have to love tomotoes!!

Go for it - the only problem will be when Superman flies past and steals them because they look so juicy!!!

(Also, you might have to prepare yourself for the screams as your ripe crop falls onto the heads of unsuspecting mademoiselles)

Ooooo la la!!

there are a few varieties of tomato that hang over naturally - the best i've found is a cherry tomato called "Tumbler". It's available here in the UK as plants and seeds in most garden centres.
ps they taste fantastic.

You sure can. Tomatoes make great hanging plants. Cherries especially look nice.
