Why are the prepaid cell phones always so ugly?

Because the people who use them do not necessarily want the extravagant, just the frugal, because frugal defines prepaid.

Because they're prepaid. If you get a plan you have more options to get a better cell phone.

some of them arent that ugly, and its because they want you to get a contract...but now a days you can get a regular phone and just put a prepaid chip in it. You just wont get a discount because you arent getting a plan, you'll have to pay top dollar

You can always buy a cellphone yourself, unlock it, and then insert any SIM card you get from prepaid phone companies into the phone and use it. The fee to unlock phones are quite high, usually.

Because the phone company isn't making that much money from you when you do Pay-as-you-go.

The phone company gives you the really nice phones on a contract because they are robbing you blind.

How funny! IT does seem that way , doesn't it? Most likely, because you may replace it soon, a phone that requires a long term contract will be kept awhile and so they are made more attractively. Also, the attractiveness,lures you into signing that contract...

Because they'd rather have you sign up for a regular phone plan so instead of your phone not working when you've used your minutes, they can charge you a premium rate for the overage!

It is made cheaply so that it can be sold cheaply, allowing those who cannot afford a cell phone w/plan to still be able to have a cell phone.

it all depends on what company you get. i see some pre-paid ones that look just like everyone elses. my friend has a pre-paid one and another friend has the same phone but her's is pre-paid. but there are some ugly ones like Tracfone.
