I have a problem with my laptop (over heating, there is wierd noises coming from it as well, and it shuts down when it's too much) I've also had warnings that the cooling system wasn't working propertly, my question is, how much should it cost to fix this? I want to go with a rough estimate so that I won't get ripped off.... Thnx!!

it will cost ~ $100

it sounds like(the noise) the fan needs to be replaced. also make sure you use the laptop on a flat hard surface like a book and not on fabric.

well i have heard of this problem mostly with dell laptops especially the inspiron 5100...they claim the problem is the motherboard...if u are under warranty then they will replace it for no cost i believe...

it is most likly the fan though either clogged or the speed is messed up...start by using canned air to blow out the fans and all of the vents(short bursts)...then if that doesnt work you could download a fan speed program(only problem is in some cases it voids the warranty) if the noise stops after the computer continues to over heat invest in a fan that sits under your laptop(best investment i ever made)

and that should solve your problems

Are you under warranty? If so, this would be a good time to use it. It might cost around $100 depending on the laptop.

well this is the most common problem in laptops, especially the SONY ones, i hv sony...and believe mi its giving me a hell of a heat problem..

The Heat factor, can come from many reason....
common most is the DUST...
u can easily clean this by opening it our laptop heat sink part....
And other thing may b the Thermal paste between your Heat sink and processor may hv completely burned out....you can change that one too.....but b careful while doing that.....
The fan just cost $6-10, but most of the time, u will b asked to change the Heat Sink itself including Fan....

Your best bet would b first to clean the dust....

Number One: Buy A CAN OF COMPUTER CLEANER and SPRAY the **** out of your CASE, FAN etc.

Number 2..USE RIGHTMARK CPU CLOCK UTILITY...to UNDERCLOCK YOUR PROCESSOR.. it will help it stay cool.
