Having sex may help spur on your labor. I am not making this up.

Actually, you can be a centimeter dilated for quite a while. As long as you're not having contractions that further the dilation, it could just stay that way or even close up a bit...
I know it is hard to wait at the end of the pregnancy, but every day your baby is inside, s/he is getting exactly everything s/he needs and is growing in the best possible way...

Weeks (sorry). With my first pregnancy I was 1 - 2 cm dialated from my 36th week on, one week I would be 2, then the next week just 1. SOOOO fusterating.
Try walking to help it along, but don't overdo it. Make sure you are drinking tons of non caffeinated fluids since it's so hot during the summer.
I guess worst case senario would be your doctor deciding to induce, mine did about 1 week after my due date. They don't like you waiting too long because of the possibility of the placenta getting calcium deposits and not getting nutrition to the baby. Plus, your amnio fluid can start dropping and that isn't good either.
I hope you go soon, I'm due in 5 weeks and counting...augh!

As others have said, you can stay a centimeter dilated for quite some time. It is fairly unusual, but up to a month isn't unheard of. Usually it is only for a week or so before you give birth. Having sex and playing with your nipples, however odd this sounds, will actually help start labor.

This depends so much on your body,
if this is a first child (pregnancy) you could be having your baby soon. Check with your doctor for a better time frame, (they know your history so far and are way better educated on the time frame.
IF this is a second or more child. You could be dialated to one cm for months before your due date.

i was 1cm for about a month then the doctor check me and i was 4 cm for 3 weeks after my last check up i was 5cm and stayed that way for a week and then i started to have complications and doctor did a c- section and baby was fine however he was stuck in birthing cancel which gave him a bruise on his little head. we were both in need of getting baby out, so no more problems arose.. we did fine and are still fine. good luck and god bless
