Bruce Arena's contract runs through December. He has said he will "probably not be back." Next World Cup, we shouldn't be as bad as we were this time around. Also, the next World Cup is in South Africa, as opposed to in Europe where the USA has not won a WC match. Freddy Adu might play for the US or his native Ghana in the next World Cup, which may help the US team that only scored one goal off of an American foot.

The sad answer to that is "yes". I live in the USA and we do not take soccer very serious in this country, which will always leave us at a disadvantage against other countries that live for soccer. Here we only take American football and basketball serious, and without the commitment to the sport we will always be in a bad position for the mens world cup.

However, the women always do well because in America we believe that soccer is a womans sport and support them more than we do our men soccer players.

I would like to see them do better, but i don't think that they will ever make it that far.

Considering that the US national team has bombed in 3 of the last 5 World Cups (only making it out of the first round in 2002 and at home in 1994), I think it's fair to say the US will continue to struggle internationally, especially if the only decent local rival is Mexico.

to be honest the usa team are not to bad. they reached the last 8 four years ago. considering its the biggest sport on the planet, which is played by almost every country in the world, and is the national sport for most countries this is a huge achievement. this time round they had a hard group, but they still played well. and who knows maybe if the ref didnt make that mistake, they would have beaten ghana maybe, and prgressed. brazil would most likely have beaten them though in the last 16.

Yes, our best athletes become insterested in football and basketball at a young age and pursue those sports. Imagine what our soccer team would look like if Dwyane Wade and Terrell Owens played soccer their whole lives.

Probably....because all of our top home-grown athletes are too busy playing football, basketball, hockey and baseball instead of that pansy "sport".

We'll always blow at the World Cup until we as a country actually give two sh*ts about soccer...and that's not going to happen any time soon, quite frankly.

they might improve once they see that the rest of the world is hooked on soccer and so, they might want to be part of the action. Or something. Besides, there are a lot of potential U.S. soccer players.

most probably...not until the US actually get their act together get good coaches, actual fans, and more support....the US team still has lots to learn about what soccer's all about, players need actual skills for example.
