I've read something like 2-5% of women deliver on their due date, yet I've known two women in the last 4 months who have done it. Go figure.

It depends how it was determined. If it's by the last menstrual period and the woman has a regular cycle, it's fairly accurate. If it is determined by early ultrasound (before 8 weeks or so) it is very accurate.
On the other hand, as other answerers have stated, women do not necessarily give birth on their due date. Usually it's within 2 weeks of the due date.

Is not accurate at all, my boy was born more than 2 weeks before. My due date was March 2, and I had him on February 14!

that is usually a good guess as the when the baby will come. I was given two due dates - early on the doctor said I was due March 12, then they changed it to March 26 - I delivered on March 18th. They didn't get it right either time. I know only one person who actually delivered on their due date. It is a good idea for you to know when to try to be ready by, but you can go before or after that date. Good luck!

the due date is not 100% b/c the dr is going by the first day of you last period. if you knew when you were ovulating you have a better chance of having an idea of the due date. also better yet (which this is sometimes rare) if you knew the day you conceive can help out even more. im pregnant right now. they have my due date has aug 12th, but after some research my due date is the 6th of august. if you know the length of you cycles and have an idea of the day you concieve, you should try this web site.

It is usually accurate within two weeks before the due date and one week after. It is possible, and quite normal, to deliver in that three week span of time. Then again, no one but the baby knows when when he'll pop out!

For my first child I was giving the due date of january 5th, basing it from my period. When I got my 4 month ultrasound they found out I was going to br due later, january 31st. They ended up going in and pulling her out via c section Feb 13th!
