Certified mail offers an additional feature of a return receipt. It's a green tag that gets stuck on the package or envelope. When your letter or package is delivered, the postal carrier is supposed to send that back to you via mail confirming delivery.

Also, you can also add delivery tracking to an envelope, but it only says if it's delivered. It's not like FedEx where you get a signature and address, etc.

Both services cost a little extra.

but you have to pay for tracking, certified alone does not enable you to track.
