It is much more common than most people in America want to admit to.

MOST people during their lives have some sort of exobitionistic fantasy - even if they do not actually engage in exhibitionism.

The prevalence of exhibitionism is about the same among females and males - however, far more females engage in exhibitionistic behavior - likely because it is a means of attaining attention from men, and it is far more socially acceptable for a girl to display her body than it is for a man to do so.

First you must ask is anything normal? Normalacy relates to society and an individual. What one society finds normal another may not. Same with people. Exhibitionism is, however, a DSM-IV (the official list of psych disorders)classified disorder located under sexual and gender identity disorders and further classified under paraphilias along with fetishism, masochism, sadism, and voyerism.

"Normal:
Conforming with, adhering to, or constituting a norm, standard, pattern, level, or type; typical: normal room temperature; one's normal weight; normal diplomatic relations."

Anything not agreeing with accepted standards and enforced by laws is not normal.

Being naked is normal.
We are born naked and we do not grow any other covering.
We wear cloth to protect ourselves from the elements, and due to total over population, to keep our genitalia private.
And then there is form fitting and revealing clothes and the whole private thing goes out the window.
I say, you have it, flaunt it.

What would you consider normal? Is there really such a thing? I guess it could be fun, but normal is really just some ones or a groups prospective, so I guess it depends on who you ask!

Exhibitionism is the psychological need and pattern of behavior to exhibit naked parts of the body to other people — that is, parts of the body that would otherwise be covered by clothes according to the standards of the local cultural norms. Exhibitionism does not necessarily imply alterations of the psychiatric condition of the average, everyday individual, although sometimes this occurs, and can be threatening to those exposed, as in indecent exposure.

Some exhibitionists wish to display themselves sexually to other people, singly or in groups. This can be done consensually as part of swinging or group sex. When done nonthreateningly, the intent is usually to surprise and/or sexually arouse the viewer, giving the exhibitionist an ego rush ... thats called Flashing, which is generally used to denote a typically nonthreatening exhibitionist type of exposure that most often refers to a female exposing her breasts. Flashing is quick, brief, and for the viewer(s), often unexpected. Its purpose can be to titillate, amuse, express sexual power, to shock, or to rebel against societal norms.

Displaying one's buttocks for shock value is known as mooning in American English, or a 'browneye' in Australia and New Zealand.

Some people like to expose themselves in front of large crowds, typically at sporting events thats called Streaking

Among the general population, many psychiatric definitions of exhibitionism broadly define it as "sexual gratification, above and beyond the sexual act itself, that is achieved by risky public sexual activity and/or bodily exposure" and include "engaging in sex where one may possibly be seen in the act, or caught in the act."

Exhibitionists who view it as a lifestyle, as opposed to those who do it for a rare thrill, carefully select their target audience and make the exposure brief, inconspicuous and apparently unintentional. It is a fetish, and many such practitioners see it as an art form. Many night clubs and goth bars encourage mild exhibitionism to enhance the venue's atmosphere.

Indecent exposure is the display of bare parts of the human body that, according to the standards of the local cultural norms, would otherwise be clothed. In most public places other than designated areas where nudity is acceptable such as in nude beaches, unwelcome exposure of an adult's genitalia is the most common example of indecent exposure. More specific cases of indecent exposure may also involve masturbation, sexual intercourse, etc. in a public place. Indecent exposure is not to be confused with exhibitionism.

I hope it helps !!
