Laws vary by state and country. Generally, the rule is if you're over 18, you can't sleep with anyone under 18. If the ages are close, say 19 and 17, you can get by. If you're both under 18, then it's usually a two-year difference rule. Some states allow ages of consent to be 15 or 16, but statutory rape laws sometimes still apply. Keep it legal and stick very close to your age.

what is statutory rape:
Definitions of statutory rape on the Web:

- Nonforcible sexual intercourse with a person who is under the statutory age of consent.
www.umaine.edu/security/sexoffenses.htm

- Sexual activity that is criminal based upon the relative ages of the victim and the actor, regardless of whether the activity was consensual because the law presumes that persons below a stated age are unable to legally consent.
sexlawsdata.org/terms.aspx

- sexual intercourse with a person (girl or boy) who has not reached the age of consent (even if both parties participate willingly)

what ages are involved?
The age of consent varies between different states and countries. You can look up the laws that govern the age of consent here: http://www.ageofcensent.com

what could happen if u do it?
Again, this depends on a number of things, where the offense occurred (because of differences in laws) the age of the offender (some laws address the age difference as well as the age of the offender).

Statutory rape is when a underage teen who is consenting but is with someone who is considered a legal adult. It varies from state to state how old someone has to be to considered under age. Usually it is under 18. Some states allow it under 18 so long as the parents consent etc. A person can go to jail if anyone decides to press charges against the person who is the adult in the relationship. I am unsure how long they would do time though. Hope that helps.

it depends on the state your in. but its basically having sex with an underaged person. in some states its 14, in others 16. there's also other caveats like the people involved can only be two years apart in age. so if she's 14 and he's 17, he can be charged with statutory rape, even though he's a minor. it really depends on your state. someone convicted of statutory rape can serve jail time.

Statuatory rape occurs when someone over 18 (a legal adult) has sexual contact with someone under 18. States vary on the age of consent; some states are 16, others 18. Some states also consider it statuatory rape if someone is 16 (age of consent in some states) and the sexual partner is more than three years older.
It is a very serious offense and if you do it, you could go to jail, pay a fine and you will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of your life.

The age limit vary between states, but usually the person has to be 16 to date someone over 18 and 18 to date someone over 21. You could be charged with statutory rape if you have sex with someone under the legal age limit. It is a felony offense, you will get jail time (unless you can get it reduced to child endangerment depending on parental consent and the age of th person) and have to register as a sex offender.

Obviously you know it involves age. It is when a minor (under the age of consent) has sex with someone in the age of majority (over the age of consent). The tricky part is that each state can define what that age is. Usually it is around 16 or 18, and there are various modifiers, like if you are less than two years apart in age then the age of consent doesnt matter. The biggest thing is that the laws are local, not national, so check your local laws.

It extremely only relies upon on your state. i understand my state helps 16 3 hundred and sixty 5 days olds to bypass out with those who're as a lot as 24. yet, they ought to have parental consent. And, sexual sex is seen statutory rape in my state in the experience that they are less than 18. So bypass on google, and look up the statutory rape regulations on your state.

The laws seem to vary from place to place. The internet would be a good place for you to start looking for the answers that apply to the location where you are living.
