I received a check as payment for a car I sold through a dealership, and he post dated the check from a Friday to Monday-I just called his bank and he doesn't have the funds!!! Any brilliant ideas???

Additional info: he wrote the check friday the 23rd, asked me to hold it till today, and you can call a bank to verify funds if you have the check in front of you. :) I still think it's shady..maybe I'll call DMV.

So he post-dated it for today and he STILL doesn't have the funds to cover it? Weird. Don't cash it because that would hurt you too. I would call him up and ask him what the deal is. Did his bank really tell you his account information? Wow.

maybe that is the reason why it is postdated. he will have the funds by mon when the check is due
