The same way you would handle any other couple. I live in Ga and it doesn't bother me and never has. I can't speak of anyone else, but if they are a decent couple and they don't make it seem like an issue for people to talk about, then welcome to the south!

Well, I personally don't have a problem with it, but there are A LOT of ignorant people in North and South Carolina. Depending on the area you are going the worst thing that would happen would be a bunch of staring. The further south you go, the more vocal people will be. Most people don't say anything, they just stare though. All I can say is hold your head up high. Be proud of who you are and who you are with. Also if you get tired of the staring just look at someone and say "I know, we're so cute together, but do you have to stare?" or something like that lol. I don't want you to get me wrong though. Not everyone down here acts like that. It's a pleasant place to live for the most part I think. Also, there ARE a lot of interracial couples here. Heck, the ignorant people might just look the other way. It depends on their personalities. There aren't many people who would actually say anything to you though.

Stay up North.
The South is still much more seggregated and divided. The atmosphere is more tense. I live in Chicago, but travel to the South quite often for work. Whole other world...

i would think you'd have less problems down there than up north. its been happening longer in the south....
good luck to you.
ps i have a couple of friends that lived in florida, she's white and he's hispanic, and they never even considered themselves an interracial couple until they moved to Ohio and he started getting harrassed because of his ethnicity.
the long and the short of it is that you're going to have ignorant assholes anywhere you go, just that it shouldn't be any worse in the south than it is in the north. don't let them get to you.

there are still allot of backwards people down this way, you will probable get some stairs and maybe a few comments but hold your head up and don't let it bother you. For the biggest part most of the people will treat you like any other couple. it really depends on what part of the state you go to. good luck and welcome to the south you will grow to love it here.

Actually, they are more common than you think. You're gonna have racists and hatemongers everywhere.
