AMD is far better than Intel. For low ends choose Sempron over Celeron. Mid range Athlon 64 + over Pentium 4 EM 64T. AthlonFX over P4 Extreme Editions.

Better is a matter of opinion.
It depends which pentiums and which AMDs you are comparing, and under what software/OS/etc.
In terms of price for performance, given the same budget, the AMD will outperform the pemtium class processors in MOST areas.

I have always used Pentium without trouble. I understand without personal experience that AMD is a reliable chip.

They are different. Generally, gamers use AMD however they run warmer. Pentium 4 is great and now many dual core processors are easily available.

They are both very good companies, with excellent products.
It used to be that AMD processors were cheaper, but Intel was more reliable. These days, they are both good and cheap. You really can't go wrong either way.

I used Piii 700Mhz & P4 2.667 Ghz. both are faster.
Then i hav amd 400mhz & Amd 2800+ both are even better than Intel.
Amd is cheaper as well as good for gaming and developer.
