Depends upon what you want to do. Training? Websites? Promotional stuff? And are you looking to build everything, or rely on others to give you pieces that you put together?

In general you'll need experience in graphics, audio, possibly video, some kind of package to put it all together. You don't necessarily need to be an expert in all of them, but should know enough to work with those who are. There's a ton of stuff out there, but biggies in the industry are Photoshop, Macromedia products (Flash, Dreamweaver, etc. -- these can be purchased as a suite), Adobe Audition or Sound Forge for audio. There's an awsome development tool called Lectora by Trivantis that you can build with. I use it extensively as an online Instructional Designer.

If you're doing web work, knowing at least basic html programming is a good thing too.

I strongly recommend you to get the Macromedia Training. It's not only a world wide accepted parameter, but also an industrial standard.

Learning about Flash, Dreamweaver and Director will put you on the right track.

Hope it helps

have to agree with the last guys response. i use macromedia and i make websites for corporations and the little guys company. they all want macromedia in their sites. ranging from the whole site in macro or just a simple menu or a movie.
either way you cant go wrong learning macro. its a great investment in your future to have that training under your belt.
good luck to you
