Currently, Vinatieri is the best ... percentages don't always win games (right Vanderjagt!).

I would have to say that either Morten Andersen or Ray Guy should be considered the best of all time. For these guys to miss a FG would be like watching Jerry rice drop a lob pass from Joe Montana. Guy and Andersen made kicking almost an artform in the NFL.

Jan is the only K in the HOF but that's because he was the #1 all-time scorer in NFL history at the time. The best FG K of all-time has to be one of the Anderson (or Andersen), I'd say Gary would be the best in his prime.

Vinatieri still has a lot of career left to deserve "the best" but he's as of now "Dr. Clutch".

it absolutely has to be Adam Vinetieri. He won three superbowls already in his career, He is still young enough to play for a while. He is the best clutch kicker of all time.

Depends on how you mean "best":
Longest FG: Elam, Jason (longer than the prior record by 1/2-yard)
Most FGs: Andersen, Morton (or was it Gary Anderson?)
Best %: Vanderjagt, Mike
