The practice of circumsion is a Judeo-Christian pracitce. It was first started by the Jews as a way to identify themselves seperate from the Gentiles. It was a form a sacrifice of sorts. It just became a "cosmetic" detail after a time. Now it is a matter of choice, where several years ago it was not. In England they are the Church of England seperate from Catholicism (thanks to Henry the VIII). The rest of Europe is not so uptight about it.

americans got into the bad habit of circumsision years ago when it was thought that an uncirced male would have a higher risk of infection because of bacteria accumulating underneath the foreskin. this has since been disproved. now, in america, circs are declining. i mean, why cut off a piece of flesh unnecessarily? plus, they say incirced men have better sex :)

Most americans don't know what they're doing to their kids when they bring it up. Most just nod stupidly when the nurse arrives. Then the kid goes through life with a butchered penis.
