When people have lots of sexual partners, it seems to be alright for men, who are known as studs and dudes. Yet when women have various sexual partners they are judged to be slappers and whores. Why is this? Is it lads mags, alpha male-ism or just society as a whole?

I dont know the answer to your question but as a woman with a reputation for having multi sexual partners I find it so unfair that even now when I wish to leave this part of my life behind I find it still follows and I am expected to act in certain ways

I am old enough to have seen a lot of trends in society change over the years, and I STILL see this trend you speak of as persistent. I have never seen a man shamed for being casual, even flippant, in his sexual relationships, yet women always have been shamed for that. That is true in our society as a whole. However, in the sub-culture of my church group, a man who has been active with many partners, almost a sexual predator, gets a reputation of not being trustworthy. Women don't want to marry him and have children with him, because there is a doubt whether he will be faithful in the future. This is, unless they see a completely changed pattern over a long period of time after the poor history happened.

You might call guys that sleep around studs but my mates (very few of them - and shrinking in numbers) that get-around are called 'dirty buggers' by me & the rest of us! A slapper's a slapper whether it's male or female!

Shitty relgion is to blame for that kind of thinking

Oh and its not the lads mags thats the problem they are on your side

I judge by how nice you are... As do the pagan, wiccan, new ager lot...

its the evil male dominated relgions like christianity and islam that are responsible fo that thinking...

you will normally see its the anit sex lot who think like that

the answers to your question --- that i read --- is a very sad reflection of this modern world with dual standards

many answers --- complain --- but still " accept "

" I DO NOT "

i " TRULY BELIEVE " that a REAL WOMAN has EQUAL RIGHTS --- and as a " VERY MATURE " man --- i believe i talk with experience ----MORESO --- i am EXPECTED --- to be " OLD FASHIONED " but i am not

is a single girl --- that had 5 lovers --- and made love many times !!!!! --- different to a divourced lady [ with children ] who also --- did same --- probably --- far more ?????

only one thing TRULY MATTERS now

LOVE AND RESPECT

this is all that really matters --- in any relationship

is your choice----- but --- to me!!!!!

a RELATIONSHIP is for only 2 people [ all problems considered ] and then ----- the whole worlds opinion --- means ----------- NOTHING

only YOU decide

it is --- " YOUR LIFE " --- not any others

hope you have the same joy i found --- when " I CHOOSE " the partner for me

my very best wish for your future

but --- is ALWAYS !!!!! ----- yours

regards

It's a double standard in society. I think that it's probably based in the male superiority that most older societies had as a basic keystone.

We're supposed to be selective on who we choose to be with or have children with. Where as men just spread their seeds wherever they can.

I don't know why. It is a double standard. I've often asked the same question.
