Most likely you are saying that it plays in the newer players but not the older ones. Older CD players cant play all made CDs. If thats not it, then you may have made the CD in mp3 format, not CD format. Never use a CD-RW if you want to play it everwhere. Use CD-Rs, they are most compatible.

Some CD players are just not capable of reading CD-R's. I had the same problem with my 2 cars. The aftermarket Alpine in my one car would play them, but the original player in my jeep wouldn't. I also found that some players won't read a certain brands of CD-R's.

Ugh I had the same problem! I burned a sony CD-RW disc and it would only play in my Sony CD player. I tried putting it on my car stereo and it almost got stuck in there =/ Now I know not to use CD-RW's! I guess it depends on what kind of player and disc your using.

Some CD players are fit to play CD-Rs. Check on certain CD players whether it plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs. There might be some where it does not play these CDs, this is very rare.

Some older players are not compatible with CD-R technology. Read the players specs to see what format it can read.

it depends on the format the players support and the speed with whch the cd is written.try making audio cds with lowest speed possible to be able to read on all players.

it could be the type of files that the songs were put on as. for example, if they are mp3 files, only certain cd players have mp3 capabilites and can read mp3 files.

possibly because you recorded it as a multi-session with session closing and didn't close the CD.
