To get ink from a pen stain out of a cotton shirt, immediately spray hairspray on the spot as soon as you notice it. Wash the shirt in the washing machine. Check the spot to see if it came out. If it hasn't, spray the spot with hairspray again and re-wash. Be sure not to put the shirt in the dryer until after the stain has lifted, if not the heat from the dryer will cause the ink to set and will no longer be removable. Depending on how bad on an ink stain, it may take a few times of treating the spot with hairspray and washing in the washing machine. However, if the ink has already set for too long, it may already be permanent. If so, you may then want to consider dying the shirt so that you will still be able to wear it out.

Provided the stain is still wet...use hot water and oxyclean.. I have heard peroxide (with white shirts only)works really well. and vinegar will work if the shirt is white just add vinegar and clorox diluted with water.. leave over night... then wash.. But take care of the stain immediately... before it has a chance to set in..
P.S. I forgot that: germ-X (antiboitic hand cleaner) works too.. especially in colored clothes.. won't harm them..works on permanent marker stains

When I got shoe polish (black) on one of my shirts I used shampoo (yeah like the stuff you use on your hair) and put it on the stain, used a toothbrush to scrub it in, and then let it set for a couple minutes then washed it, it came right out, I bet it would work for pen ink too.

RUBBING ALCOHOL and a cotton ball or absorbent piece of paper towel. I'm surprised no one else told you this. Even if you wash it, and the stain is still there, the alcohol will get it out.

Try hair spray. It'll get ink off your hands in no time. Be sure it's the cheap stuff. I've tried the expensive stuff and it won't work. The cheaper the hair spray, the better.
