Why do the italians need to cheat to win they didnt even play like a 150 ranked team i say laugh at their k.o?

They readily accepted yet another example of a disgracefully awarded penalty by tht referee bc they feared defeat.. by our still very much amzing socceroos.. i guess when ur desperate u do desperate things.. and they were desperate to win..

Sadly this whole world cup seems to be a farce...becomin a another place where its all abt the money and the fame.. and not the love of a beautiful game.

All i can say is tht i am very disppointed like u.. and i hope whoever does go on to win the cup... actually wins thru their merit and not bad refereeing!

You're a wanker, and probably never watched a game in your life. When you have an open mind and watch the game as a neutral fan, I do believe you'll see something different in the way these games are played. Loser!

Although, as an Italian, I wouldn't have given that penalty...I also wouldn't have given a red card to Materazzi. That was a joke, and symbolized the unfair calls that Italy receives time and time again at this level of international competition.

Flat out - the better team won.

People are smoking some serious crack in this forum. I would like to dispute the fact that European teams are getting the easy road. FIFA is trying to level this out. The calls are all going towards the defending teams. The teams that are the underdogs. You obviously did not watch the England-Ecuador game. Watch it, and when you notice Ecuador clutch any English-mans arm and fall and get the foul...that's a joke. Anyone who watches football regularly, and knows what they're talking about, wouldn't be saying that the big European nations are getting favoured. They are there for a reason. They're simply better. Suck it up, and go throw a friggin' boomerang! I love Aussies. I'm Scottish, but the way you guys are talking...you're starting to sound like ******* Englishman with your whining and crying. It was not a penalty.
But it will be foolish to dismiss their style. It is catanaccio at its best they defend & defend invite you into their half . Then hit you on a lightning counter and finish off the game.
It is because of this they win with man down, eg: vs Holland in euro 2000. Unless you employ such ploys you cant win uneven matches, thats why arsenal couldnt beat barca in CL final

There's no need to be bad sports. Australia played well, and the penalty probably didn't go our way, but lets not be petty like the European countries, there's nothing we can do about it now, anyway... except be more determined if we get to play them in the future.

cmon now we all know that italy with there "problems"....they won this game fair and square....please...this referee should never ref another game...he practically gave them the game on a silver platter...i hate these refs who give the european teams the advantage...yesterdays game with ecuador and england there were so many fouls called on ecuador and the same fouls were not called on england...same thing goes for germany, italy, etc etc...
