at 3 steps he is at full speed, know one has ever run him over or at first contact stopped his forward motion unless he was in the air. by far the best back ever i wish he would let us watch him play to his ability. Put the weed down Rick and run.

i have watch holmes impressed by his touchdowns but you see he always ends up playing backup as he is lucky with his jumping around and not running the ball, even the coaches see that

you guys are still looking at stats have you ever seen him play?

2006-06-26 07:23:28 · update #4

yeah he needs an o-line that can get him 3 steps once he does he is running right through your defense even if it is only 10 yards. 10 yards is a long way when you are running up the middle ans getting hit by those guys in the nfl

yeah, he has missed so much time he is rusty but still a very good back, if anyone knows how to get the cfl in florida i would like to watch the games over just checking his stats weekly. hopefully he comes back to miami rust free and with his head on straight.

Williams, who is the 62nd recipient of the Maxwell Award as Collegiate Player of the Year, broke almost every offensive record on the books. He surpassed Tony Dorsett as college football's all-time leading rusher with 6,279 yards. He also set new standards for rushing touchdowns (72), points scored (452), and all-purpose yards (7,206).

So yes has the Potential

no F____ing way man! He's a moron! A truly elite running back would have the smarts to stay out trouble, not smoke pot, and would never retire just to take a vacation. The best running backs will average 1400 yard per season with a at least a 4.0-5.0 yard per carry avg. Ricky hold a flame to that.... he had ONE good year rushing for 1800 yards and now he's the best back ever? That was a good season he had but Priest Holmes had an even better year the same season. - & he's still in the NFL. Ricky is a has-been

How people forget the hype Williams had coming out of college, the hype was comparable to Reggie Bush actually.

Williams had the potential of being a great back in the NFL and to a degree lived up to that. He had good power and cutback ability plus he was a HR threat every time he carried the ball. Best back ever, though? No, but I would say a Top-25 RB was in the realm of possibilites. But unfortunately he just couldn't keep his head in the right place. It's a shame really.

I Dont Know About Ever, But Maybe In Like A Decade (maybe).
Within A Year, or 2 Definetly. He Was A Great Back Though No Doubt About That

Best EVER? No way...just look at the guy's yard per carry average. Career, it's 4.0 and his best is 4.8. At best he might be comparable to another Texas Heisman winner, Earl Campbell who was bigger and faster.

But without a decent O-Line, Williams is just another back. He doesn't even rate among the top 25 backs in history

I thought he would a good RB, but never even close to being the best.

When it is all said and done, Ricky Williams will ultimately be a footnote in the annals of NFL history.

philliez is right.. he had a lot of hype commin' outta college.. he was supposed to be one of the nfl greats..

remember how much of a workhorse he was? 40 carries per game straight up the gut with miami.. dude was a hog

i think he definitely had the potential.. he just didn't have the heart or willingness to get there.. i guess smokin' that "yurple" will do that to you

I don't because he isn't going to stop using drugs, so he'll never get to prove how good he can actually be. Just having potential doesn't mean that it will happen.
