True, but dont just blame americans only. The entire world is ignorant. In the middle east they listen to Al Jezeera (and CNN). In China they listen to the "official" state run media (I forget the name, sorry). Its a worldwide folly.
But you know what is worse than that? Polls. People take polls as gospel, not realizing that pollsters have their own hidden agendas. They can manipulate questions and results to make it say what they want it to say. In all the years on this planet, not only have I never been polled (on anything political), but neither have anyone I know. And when i ask my friends if they know anyone that has been polled, the answer is always no. I dont trust polls.

Most news has some bias--but if you're diligent you can usually find out what is going on in the world. I read my local paper and USA Today daily as well as the New York Times on Sunday and watch CNN and Fox News daily, but I balance the American point of view by reading news wires out of Europe and Africa. Unfortunately, since we can't be everywhere at once, we have to rely on the media some, while still taking it with a grain of salt.

I don't think they are ignorant They are too lazy to check out the truth for themselves .
The news media ( that includes all , TV ,newspapers ) are owned by the Conservative Right , so that's what we are fed 24/7 . If you want to hear the real facts go to media outside the US , like the BBC .

Not all Americans listen to the media; some only listen to their friends, and some not to anyone at all.
(Warning: Raving Ahead)
What do you expect from a country so concerned about promoting the latest Liberal screed that they have made way in the school curriculum by reducing requirements for reading, or proficiency in science, or, even mathematics?
Our kids can't read properly, are unconcerned about their writing skills, and half of us can't find Canada on an unlabeled political map.
We fully deserve to be called ignorant.

Actually, I think that is an overclassification. There are people who do more than just "listen to the media" and a good number of them are Americans.

i agree...but not all americans are like that. And it isnt ONLY americans that think that way....its all over the world. Although, the majority of younger people, especially in America are influenced by what they are told in the media and its stupid. Get your own ideas and open your eyes to what is really going on.
ex. You NEVER hear about the schools, hospitals, and businesses that are built by US troops in Iraq....but you do hear about all the servicemen and civilians that are killed. you only get one side of the story b/c thats what the media reports, they make everything sound as bad as they can. Make up your own mind and stop listening to what Ashton Kutcher and P Diddy are telling you to do....

Americans like the easy way. It is too much work for most to diffuse the lies and expose the truth (even to ourselves) so we just by into what we are told by the media.

YOU obviously don't know anything about Americans other than what YOU see in the media! I suggest you come over here, actually meet a few of us and have real conversations. I'll bet your opinion would change drastically.

The "MEDIA" included the following:
Television
Cinema
Publications, including books and magazines
Newspapers
The Internet
Radio
DVDs and CDs
Media, plural of "medium"; a means (a container or a vehicle) of carrying or communicating information
If you disavow the above or ignore it, from where will you draw information????

It's how we stay informed. If there wasn't media, none of us would know anything about current affairs. We just have to be smart enough to realize what you said is true, and get our information from various sources.
