You really do not need to anything before. Just unplug the old one. Install the new one. Install the drivers for the new one if needed. Configure the resolution and color settings. Thats should do it...

PS: Make sure you video card will have the proper connectors; DVI or VGA or Both.

There's really only 2 things I can think of: 1) make sure you pay attention to the type of connections the new monitor has. Some flat-panels use DVI connections and your computer may not have that. 2) the diagonal screen measurement on flat panels is all viewable area, unlike old monitors. So an LCD monitor with a 15" screen is actually bigger than a 15" CRT monitor.

Just make sure your graphics card has the proper output connector for the flatscreen monitor. I have seen people buy flatscreen monitors with only dvi connectors and then they can not connect to the vga type port on the pc.

See answer one. It is that simple. The worst case might be that the first time you boot it will ask you to insert the CD that came with the monitor so it can load a driver.

Make sure you have a resolution set to something the LCD supports like 1024X768

Make sure you have both DVI and D-SUB connections on the LCD; you will most likely have D-SUB support on your video card but its something to think about.

Oh and make sure your computer refresh for the video is not higher then 60 Hz
