It seems like EVERYTHING is supposed to be handed to some of them (not all, but the majority of those i've had experience with) because of what happened to their ancestors and NOT them...
yeah yeah yeah slavery i get it...
200+ years ago and still you'll hear ALL about it...
what about modern day slavery...modern day inequalities?
take a trip out west and you tell me how much migrant workers are getting paid nowadays to PICK COTTON along with all your other vegetables...
2006, but no...1806 is more important.
sorry, but i live in the now.
you can't say it's racist because black isn't the only race here...
there's people on the border SHOOTING anything that moves...oh but you don't hear about that, because people with darker skin are more important....
Its always about black and white...and brown gets caught in the middle...
I'm not racist, i have (many) black friends and co-workers...i just hate ignorant people...people who feel they deserve something for nothing...

I'M MEXICAN. I've dealt with being the only mexican in a white community in the suburbs of CHICAGO.
My mom was the only other minority living in the area, and you have no idea the kind of racism i encountered at an early age.
You try being in 3rd and having some POLISH kid tell me to go back where i came from.

JESSI B, you give me hope for the future...thank you.
as soon as i can, you will be my best answer.
she's right people...
my point is that you can't move ahead if you're still tying yourself to a post that should be buried but it seems to be your favorite bone...digging it back up again.
You're all complaining about how racism still exists in this country but how can you cry that without seeing the rest of the racism?
Since when is Racism just a "black" thing?
Since when was it "only" black and white?
You can't blame everything on racism....I DON'T.
I deal with racism all the time, and don't give me this inequality bullshit, because you never have to be asked for a green card.
Do you know how degrading it is to be born here and have people treat you not like a "2nd class" citizen as you feel, but like an illegal immigrant.
don't preach to me about stereotypes and inequalties.
You want everything, you want racism too?
You can have it, cause i don't want it.

i love how people call me ignorant...........YET THEY REFUSE TO READ THE WHOLE QUESTION.
your right...being mexican, i DON'T know about being a minority in this country...
being mexican I DON'T know a F*CKING thing about being discriminated...
being MEXICAN, i DON'T know what it's like to be considered a "4th class" citizen(seeing as my citizenship comes into question at times)
being MEXICAN, i have NO IDEA WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE DISPLACED (mexicans were here LONG before black people were...and we were FORCED OUT...what do you think california and texas were before they were annexed?)
Idiot "dumb a s s"...
do your race a favor.
learn what discrimination REALLY is.
and ALL the colors it entails.

You have enough people on your back so I'm not going to climb on there too. Maybe you can transfer some of them to my back, because I agree with you. No, it's not all blacks who still talk about slavery, but there are so many who do that it ruins it for the whole race. I've lived in the South my whole life and had to deal with certain black people complaining about slavery and how the white man ruined their lives. That argument gets so tiresome after a while. My family were share croppers and couldn't have bought a slave if their life depended on it so why talk to me about how the white people tried to crush the black people? Slavery ended over a century ago for crying out loud! Things are different now-I have no sympathy for today's black people. They are given opportunities at birth just like every other American citizen. If you start at the bottom, you can make it to the top. Work hard and accept responsibility for your short-comings instead of blaming slavery. Life is hard for every one, not just one certain race. There are plenty of successful black people in the world, and I'm sure there will be plenty more. Yes, white people brought slaves here many years ago, but their own people sold them! Show some anger to them! If they wouldn't have sold their own people to the white man, then the white man wouldn't have brought them to America as slaves (the ones that were stolen, yes, the ones that were bought in Africa, no). It's 2006 everyone-it's time slavery stopped being an excuse and we all started accepting responsibilities for ourselves.

Get over it Mr. I'm-Not-Racist-Cause-I-Have-Black-Friends. On a side note, is that an Irish name?
The word is Black. Conceive the possibility that Black people come from other places than just Africa. Understand that having been born in this country makes you an American no matter what your skin tone is. Get it through your head that things might be hunky dorie where you are. But where you are clearly isn't where I am. Racism exists. Black people are PURPOSEFULLY kept out of highly marketable employment possibilities for no other reason than assumptions an employer makes when they see their skin tone. Wrap your head around the fact that this is the RULE rather than the exception.
Just because you don't see it for whatever reason, doesn't mean it doesn't exists. Get over your own location would you please? Life sucks all over the place.

Cause it is an ongoing thing, some people are just too ignorant to see it that's all, Of course they are not being slaved like they were used to be but it's happening in a 21st century way. For example, how come the chinese were given reperations by the US government for putting them in concentration camps during the Second World War, but didn't give the Africans reperations for treating them as sllaves. The chinese came into the US by their own choice but as soon as the war started, they fearted that they might be spies for the chinese government. On the other hand, the Africans didn't even wasnt to come to the friken US, they had to be shot, and draged and then stuffed in boats. You are the kind of people who give the US a bad name with ur ignorant, excuse me but i have to go and pulk.

It's not something for nothing. It's something for something. We built this country on blood, sweat and tears of our forefathers backs. Not to mention that the majority of conveniences we use today and have always used since the turn of the century were invented by African Americans. Yet, we still continue to be treated like second class citizens, third now since we've been pushed even further down by Hispanics who are outnumbering us. No, I'm not prejudice, perhaps a little militant. I'm African, Native, Irish American and I love everyone...but the facts are the facts. Give me my 40 acres and a mule!

its amazing, the question asked. you cant even begin to fathom that question, much less the answer. you have never been discriminated against. in other words, you dont know. and shouldnt be asking the question, at least until you try to relate, or understand, and read your history. you ask a good question. its when you half heartedly, try to inject your feelings and opinions into a poorly constructed, "ill make myself feel better, by justifying my peoples actions, answer." or, when you use examples of other races oppression. that makes your question sound ignorant.
for those that dont know. we built this nation. every stitch. we made this nation an economic power. it was our blood, sweat, tears. we came(forced) over with the white man. we were here long before the other races(except for the native indian) we worked your land, built your houses, churches, schools. etc.
we were stripped of our language, religion, beliefs, heritage, culture, and whatever else you can think of, and forced to adopt "this way of life". it is still going on today. it is ten times harder for a black man to find a good paying job, even if he does have a degree. the police still harrass us on a regular basis, most times for nothing. aside from that, police have killed countless numbers of black people, and have gotten away with it! i could go on, but i digress.
the point i am making is, yes. we do deserve reparations. we are still oppressed. black people have been relegated to 4th class citizens. that is one level below, white trash. dont pass judgement, or give opinions on something you know absolutely nothing about. you, could never, and will never understand "the black experience". without understanding and experience, you look stupid. and you make your people look stupid.......i guess forrest gump said it best, "stupid is, as stupid does"..................stupid, dumb a s s!
i read the whole question. i know what you are. its not who wrote it. its the audacity of the question. you know racism. yes you do. but on my level, no you dont. on an ancestral level, no you dont. but, you should be able to relate on some small level. and, this question, should have never come out of your mouth. on another level. while you were eating tacos, burritos and fighting pancho villa, and giving in to the white mans lies(thats why you lost cali, tex, etc). we were being crammed like sardines into small disease ridden ships for a 6month voyage across the atlantic, with little to no food. did your people endure such attrocities by the white man? no! you lost your land because of your gullibilty, and, guarantees of unity(same as the native indians). then they came in and took what they wanted. we didnt have that luxury, mine was forcibly taken. your people were never slaves on a large scale, or any scale for that matter. the government just recently really started cracking down on your people. before that, you could basically come and go as you pleased.(not the same for africans) as for your native land, your people still own the vast majority of it. cant say the same for mine. you can, but you cant really relate. you know, but, you dont know. your people are the annomaly, one foot in, an one foot out, you can empathize, but, go on relatively smooth with your life. kinda like a very, very, very light skinned black person. accepted, as long as noone knows what you really are. i hope you can understand the imagery. if not, then, dumb a s s does apply. and, you really dont have any business asking this type of question..
