you can get back child support, and it will be based on what the father makes now, not what he made then, so if he's got a better job now than he did then, it will be more.
but be aware the money is for the kid and the kid's expenses...its not alimony for you. so be careful of how you portray yourself to the court. talk to a lawyer, they'll set you on the right track.

yes up until 18 you can go back six years unless the kid is in school then you can walk your sweet behind right into family court and have it ordered. If I was you i would do it very soon and get the kid enrolled into college. I know that is how it is in NY i don't know where you are located and i don't know how other states run but call family court and find this out.

Some states will only go back for 2 years, some 3 or more, it depends on where you live...I know that in Texas the laws have recently changed regarding the amount of time you can go back and collect.

Depending on where you live. I am in the same situation in Canada and what my lawyer said to me is "why didn't you go for it before now? Sorry!!" I will keep watching your questions to see if I can get any pointers. My daughter is 10 and her father just came back 2 years ago.

1. Why do you want it now?
2. Why havent you attempted to retrieve any funds during the previous 18 years?
You need to contact DCSS ( Department of Child Support Services) in your local county of your state and they can further direct you in regards to your options. Good Luck!

You need to speak to a lawyer...usually a consultation if free....That is one heck of a lot of money...You owe it to yourself to check it out. No one here can give you an answer, for this might vary from state to state. Get on the phone and don't waste anymore time. Good luck
