.....and that it runs across all boundaries? (Race, religion, nationality, socio-economic status, etc?) Reading these postings, I'm beginning to think that everyone out there has a personal vendetta against SOME segment of the population. It's particularly funny when you read something like "[people from some particular religion] are all so closed minded." HELLO???? Isn't that being closed minded to lump them all together like that based on their religion?
Help ! I may have to stop reading what people post on here because it's starting to depress me....

Actually, someone made a good point in one of the answers. I didn't mean to imply that everyone is either "all good" or "all bad"...I think most people are some combination of both. I just meant that you can't categorically label people as "good" or "bad" based on their religious, racial, national, political or other affiliations. (For example, statements like "conservatives are warmongers", or "liberals are godless." Such broad-brushed statements are not only inaccurate, they are inflammatory and set human relations back hundreds, maybe thousands, of years.

I agree with you 120%. That is what I have been trying to tell people for at least my entire high school career. Now, I'm Arab American and everyone outside of my city is afraid, or skeptical of me and "what I do". No matter what you do or where you are you will always find really good people and really bad people. and some in between. If there is one thing that really bothers me it has to be stereotypes. All they are, are people who are closed minded, and where do they learn this? From their parents and MOST importantly, the Media.
I have never been over seas but my friends told me that what the media shows you is completely WRONG. They told me that it is the most beautiful and fun place in the world. Don't believe in everything you hear, research it and find out for yourself.
Let me know if this helps you

LOL! Right you are! Sattelite radio has Right wing, and Left wing talk channels. Turn to one, you'll hear "The liberals are to a one, all nuts! They catagorize conservatives into a single group!"" then "Conservatives are all money hungry war mongers!! They're so scared of us, they lump us into a catagory and blast it!!"
It's a simplification of course, but not much of one. The more concrete and vocal someone is about absolutes, the less likely they are to be willing to admit to the validity of another perspective.
Religion, being set up with ironclad rules, and regimented philosophy is, sadly, a perfect example of this. With and unbending structure, and dictated rule of spreading it's word, a devout religious person is likely to be the last person you want to have any discussion with. They may or may not be correct, but are usually totally unwilling to even begin to honestly consider a viewpoint different from their own. Admitting a misconception to a system claiming absolute validity is a threat to such person's foundation of values.
There are exceptions sure, and I have a more deep respect for them, as it's true courage. It takes bravery for someone brought up in such an environment, to be able to say, "You have a good point. We may be wrong."

Hey, friend! Howya doon? Maybe you're spending too much time with this. Understand, there's people that don't have an out to voice anything the way society's structured now.
Because this is public access, it's just that. Not quite as bad as the Port Authortiy Bus terminal. There are some strictures.
Yes. Of course there are good people, and bad people. Bad people enjoy being so. However, we're not our own barometer for good and bad. Don't take it personal. This is a relatively sanitized view of the spectrum of real life that's out there.

I feel that that every human has the good/bad/ugly/beautiful/smart/dumb sides to them. I don't think we're separate in that aspect. I don't see that there are good people and bad people, as you feel. We all have the ability to have a good heart but also bad intention, we can be ugly when we don't realize and beautiful to everyone, we all are smart but we also can make dumb choices. That's what makes all who we are. We have those traits within, they just appear at different times, which makes the world go round
