Was it a penalty? I don't think so, but the italians are famous for last minute miracles. Best game of the cup so far, congrats to Italy, and good luck, see you in 4 years

congratulation for your best game in the tournament. Bresciano learned to play very well in our Serie A. I hope we'll match u in as soon as possible. Now u could support us to win the World Cup!Viva l'italia e viva il bel calcio!

P.S.: that penalty is not a scandal, grosso couldn't control the ball anymore after your defender's foul.

That decision was very dodgy! It's funny how the referee waits until the last minute before making such a major controversial decision, ensuring that Italy gained more from the decision, as Socceroos could not respond (they still had 2 substitutions left)

I agree with the other response though, that Materazzi's red card was not warrented, i can only assume that the referee thought it was two footed, studs up, but it wasn't.

The Socceroos have earnt the respect, and we will be back sooner, rather then later. Our only problem is that our defence is aging... this is because Frank Farina didn't blood enough of our younger defenders, when he had the chance over the last 6 years.

GO SOCCEROOS... LOVE YOU GUUS.

Yes! The Socceroos definately earned their respect! I saw the tension boiling up in the Italian side. They were playing like school kids. The Australians were creating superb chances!

Ball posession was on the Australian side and so were the shots. I say it's by sheer luck the Italians won. They were not creating the chances and by the way they played, i don't think they deserve to win.

But the Australians should not be disapointed cuz they have made it to the 2nd round and held on until the last minute. It was a good game nonetheless.

Australia, i got 2 words for ya, YOU ROCK!!

You, like many others, make the mistake to take the excitement, because is your team playing, as a good game. I didn't carewho won the game and for me, was a boring game. And how do you expect to earn my respect, when they played for a whole half with an extra man, and didn't even came close to score? But, you are going ford ward, no doubt.

The socceroos earned a great deal of respect, that's for sure. I saw them play against Brazil, they played amazingly well.

GO socceroos!!!

No it was not a penalty, Then again it was not a red for materazzi. Aussies should have won with the man advantage, but they created very little.

But well played roos, you will be there in 2010, as you ppl are qualifying from asia. U r much better than any asian teams...

you say last minute miracles, I say match-fixing....

Yes the 'roos won a massive amount of respect except from the referee, who shouldnt have called that a penalty which would have allowed for the 'roos to get their chance to try and beat italy...
