We are animals - what did you think we were, vegetables? But animals rarely resort to interspecies lifetime mating.

Humans certainly ARE classified as kingdom animalia.

Domain: Eukarya
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum or Division: Chordata
Subphylum or subdivision: Vertebrata
Class: Mammalia
Subclass: Placentalia
Order: Primates
Suborder: Haplorrhini
Family: Hominidae
Subfamily: Homininae
Genus: Homo
Species: H. sapiens

From your own link:
"The scientific definition of the word, however, does indeed include human beings. Therefore, when scientists use the word "animal" they often mean something slightly different than when non-scientific people use it."

From m-w online, both 1 and 3 clearly state that humans are animals, and 2 states that sometimes the word is used only for lower animals in a non-scientific setting - this does not mean that humans are not animals:

Main Entry: 1an·i·mal

2 a : one of the lower animals as distinguished from human beings b : MAMMAL; broadly : VERTEBRATE

Only crazy PETA people.

No point in marrying a cow... they can't really show their emotions like humans can.

Anyway, humans are meant to reproduce, not marry other species.
