I agree. Anyone else felt like they've been in a hip hop drought the last 5 yrs. Most rap today falls under what i call "hip pop". Designed for the pop charts, not for the streets.

On the other hand, I found a new Rakim CD released in 99' to pump in the car. :)

Being of the older generation, I truly miss sounds of groups like A Tribe Called Quest...rhymers who were that, not just rappers being studio gangsters. I also like LL, but he's a legend. Now this crap they pose as hip hop is...well, let's just put it like this: I hope and pray- frequently - that they stop selling it.

Now a days rappers can't talk about nothing but materialist things with the bling bling and expensive drinks. It seems no one care about good beats and slamming lyrics any more.
