Depends upon where you live, but you can call your local zoning board. Should be in the front of your local phone book.

I know you will have to have the land surveyed and layed out by a pro, surveying companies may be able to help you find out how to do everything.

Some places have fees for doing so andf or other requirements, so you'll need to check locally!

You need to find out what the rules of your county are for sub-division of the property and then get a land surveyor and a real estate agent that deals with land.

In most states it will have to be approved by the zoning board, and it will take some time to get their approval. Your local court house should be able to advise you on who to contact and when they meet.
