Season 3 will focus more on the Others. We will find out more about who they are, why they are on the island, and what they are doing. Thus, why the three main characters were kidnapped, you couldn't just leave them with the rest of the group and spend a whole season on the others without Jack, kate, and Sawyer.
About the snow scene, it is obvious that Desmond's ex know a bit about her daddy's hobbies, one of which must be the island, and knew what to look for in order to find Desmond. Judging from the snow scene she has found him. The island could be somewhere in Antarctica or in the icy water of either pole, most likely the south, protected by an electro magnetic shield, which we saw in the season finale. Think of the island like a snow globe, what did one snow man say to the other? This would explain why desmond couldn't leave, and why Michael and Walt needed a specific direction to sail towards in order to get out.

Well the 2nd Season just ended in the USA in May. Season 3 will start some time in the fall, either in the end of September or beginning-mid October.

I dont know any rumours, but what is up with that snow scene at the end and season 2?????? where is this show going?? I cant wait for season 3

It just went on hiatus so it will be a while before it comes back on in the USA.I hate spoilers so I never read them.
