I have been out of work since the late 90's and now I'm about to jump back into the world. I feel scared and unsure of myself.

Being a mom requires so many skills. Play them up when you are applying for a job. I couldn't even list them all: time management, working loooong hours, keeping a good attitude, prioritizing, leadership, giving praise when it is due, kindness, thinking on your feet, teaching, geez... you know. Many will appreciate those, plus you are a mature person, who is not likely to be flirting around looking for a hubby and starting a family, who wants to get her job done, and done right, and go home. Be confident and communicate to your interviewers that you are a quick study and will catch up, IF needed, very quickly. The hardest thhing will be your missing your home and family, but it is good for a woman to secure herself professionally.

Find what you are good at. Did you have a career before you had kids? I stayed at home for 3 years with my oldest, 2 years with my second and 2 1/2 years with my twins. I love working now. It is so good for all of us to spend some time apart. I did the same thing with the whole confidence stuff. But believe me, I feel much better about myself now that I am contributing to the family income and I don't have to tell my kids no all the time.

You can do it!! Believe in yourself!

You should have been getting combat pay for being a stay at home mom! Think of all the things that you have to do to keep the house running smoothly and your family clean and fed!

Make sure that you put "excellent at multi-tasking" on your resume!!!!

If you were to consider a home business, it would refresh your skills and dip your toe into the work world, so to speak.
I work with housewives in the same position as you every day...I have also been where you are and understand how scary it is!
This way you could work from home for yourself, but not by yourself, as I dedicate myself 100% to helping everyone on my team grow their business and have fun doing it.

have a company that I work for and it is a 500 Inc company and has been around for 21 years. Not MLM and it is a wonderful company. My wifes aunt has been working for them for 3 years and makes $9,000 a month. We just got started and are growing fast. No selling, No deliveries and no stocking product.

It is harder for you to adjust to getting back into work schedule and it is a very competitive job market..
so yes, it will harder for you to get a job unless you are Super exceptionally qualified for the career in mind
PLUS- attitude to succeed is everything- you already sound like you will fail

You have a lot to be proud of. Keep your head up and remember that you HAVE been working at a full time job, even if it was for little or no pay.

Good luck and keep smiling.
