It indicates it's charging but I have a zero showing for amount remaining. Where is the battery usually located on the laptop. I haven't been able to find it.

Have a local technician look at it and what I think it is at least one of three things either.
1:You will need a new battery
2:You will need a new charger
3:You will need a new motherboard
Thats my opinion. I hope its not the motherboard because they are VERY expensive.
Good Luck!

As many have said, your battery is likely pooched.
if you call dell at 310-dell or at (your area code) 310-dell
they will tell you where the battery is.
The absolute cheapest place to get a battery would likely be to order one from www.refillbattery.com or www.evercorp.com
These 2 companies do nothing but batteries.

Is this a used or older laptop, the battery life may be depleted.

It's usually in the bottom and opens by sliding something to unlock it.
I think your battery needs to be replaced it happened to my mom's laptop too. You can go to your bla bla bla "local service center" or "system administrator", jus go to whoever fixes laptops on your country.
