look, THERE ARE NO BETTER REFS OK?? there refs were selected from all over the world after careful selection. Its just a disgrace the way the refs are going about their jobs. trust me, you wouldnt want other refs in the world cup, these are the best we have. FIFA did not select bad refs for laughs. these refs are making a fool of themselves thats all.

Yes it was a disgrace, because it wasn't a penalty. Fifa should review all the games and get rid of the refs that aren't doing a good job. The Italian should have gotten booked for diving.

Open you eyes. It is not the Refs. These types of Ref "errors" do not occur in such a massive scale without Executive Instruction. Look to Blatter!! Corruption starts at the top!!
GOD I hate when the Refs decide a game, what a waste of time watch this "stuff".

It was completely unfair. The ref doesn't know anything about the rules, no sane ref. will give a penalty in the last second!!

How do they select the refs anyway?

The fifaworldcup.com site says that the ITA v AUS ref
has only been a ref since 2002!

He looked familiar. What other games has he done so far this
World Cup? I expect they were crap jobs too.

The ref was being harsh, but it was fair. Could he have used his own discretion and let it go? Yes, but then that would bring about enough reason for dispute. He was just as harsh with the Italians: lets not forget the red card.

FIFA definitely need to step in their choice of referees and their use of goal line technology (Hawkeye system currently used in cricket) over controversial calls made by the refereers. The players are being robbed of their chances it is a REAL SHAME! With all that money they are making it is about time that BLATTER do something. Soccer fan is becoming sophisticated and we need better refereeing.
